Belk Shows Support for Charlotte Education With A $25,000 Gift to CMS Foundation
COVID-19 upended school systems entirely last year. At the start of a new back-to-school season filled with hope, Belk is giving back to the Charlotte community by donating $25,000 to the CMS Foundation, the official nonprofit partner for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
This gift, which will be presented in a brief ceremony on September 12th at 3:00 p.m. EST at SouthPark Mall, is part of Belk’s Project Hometown program and larger commitment to give back to the Charlotte community and support local education. By shining light on the needs of local educational systems, Belk hopes to help improve health, security, and opportunities for all students in its communities across its 16-state footprint.
In addition, Belk will also host Educator’s Appreciation Day on September 12th from 2-6 p.m. at seven Charlotte-area stores (Northlake, SouthPark, Pineville, Gastonia, Monroe, Concord, and Rock Hill) where teachers, staff, and school administration will receive a special coupon for in-store shopping, light bites, gift card giveaways of up to $500 at each store and more.
In 2020, Belk donated over $8.8 million to communities across its footprint in a year when it was needed the most, and the retailer is thrilled to be able to continue its charitable efforts in local communities again this year.
