North Carolina Among the Least Expensive Margaritas in the U.S.

Did you know that margaritas account for almost half of all cocktail sales in bars and restaurants in Cinco De Mayo? Thanks to FinanceBuzz a new study was done that compares the cost of a classic lime on-the-rocks margarita in every state. The average cost of a margarita was determined by looking at 500 bars and restaurants across the country.

Whether served frozen or on the rocks, margaritas are a refreshing staple on cocktail menus everywhere. Margaritas account for nearly half of all cocktail sales in bars and restaurants for Cinco De Mayo. There is an average price of $8.48 for a margarita nationwide. Below, you can see the average price in each state and in some nearby states.

    At number ten is the state of Vermont. the average cost of a margarita sits at $9.80. wow! This is 16% over the national average.

  • 9. Alaska

    At number nine is the state of Alaska. The average cost of a margarita sits at $9.97. wow! This is 18% over the national average.

  • 8. Massachusetts

    At number nine is the state of Massachusetts. The average cost of a margarita sits at $10.18 wow! This is 20% over the national average.

  • 7. New Mexico

    New Mexico has an average cost of $10.43 per margarita. This is a big 23% over the national average. This ranks number seven on the list of most expensive margarita pricing in the United States.

    The District of Columbia has an average cost of $10.46 per margarita. This is a big 23% over the national average. This ranks number six on the list of most expensive margarita pricing in the United States.

    The District of Columbia has an average cost of $10.68 per margarita. This is a big 26% over the national average. This ranks number five on the list of most expensive margarita pricing in the United States.

    At number four is the state of Washington. The average cost of a margarita sits at $10.75. That is wild! This is 27% over the national average.

    At number three is the state of New Jersey. The average cost of a margarita sits at $11.20. That is wild! This is 32% over the national average.

    At number two is the state of Hawaii. The average cost of a margarita sits at $11.63. That is wild! This is 37% over the national average.

    The most expensive place to buy yourself a margarita in the United States is a drum roll, please…

    NEVADA! The average cost is $11.89 and this is 40% over the national average.

    In the states where margaritas are most expensive, they are evenly divided between the west and east coasts, while the states with the least expensive margaritas are in the middle of the country. The Midwest and Great Plains are home to five of the least expensive states for a margarita. Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas are all connected to one another.

    One of the least expensive places to grab a margarita is in the state of Iowa. The average cost of a margarita is only $7.08 which is -17% below the national average.

    For a cheap margarita, you can head to the state of Missouri. The average cost of a margarita is only $7.07 which is -17% below the national average.

    On the least expensive margarita list is the state of Texas. The average cost of a margarita is only $6.98 which is -18% below the national average.

    On the least expensive margarita list is the state of Kansas. The average cost of a margarita is only $6.77 which is -20% below the national average.

    In the state of Wisconsin, you can snag a margarita for only $6.60. This is -22% below the national average.

    One of the least expensive places to grab a margarita is in the state of North Dakota. The average cost of a margarita is only $6.35 which is -25% below the national average.

    One of the least expensive places to grab a margarita is in the state of South Carolina. The average cost of a margarita is only $6.29 which is -26% below the national average.

    One of the least expensive places to grab a margarita is in the state of Arkansas. The average cost of a margarita is only $6.11 which is -28% below the national average.

    One of the least expensive places to grab a margarita is in the state of West Virginia. The average cost of a margarita is only $65.99 which is -29% below the national average.

    At only $5.83 the winner is Alabama! Wow, this is -31% below the national average. The average price of a margarita is less than $7 in Alabama, West Virginia, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Texas.
