It is one of the biggest annual celebrations in the USA, honoring workers and their achievements. With Labor Day just around the corner, there are plenty of great deals that can be found around the country. A list of the top 5 US cities to visit this Labour Day weekend has been compiled by Booking.com.

Guess what? One city that is close to Charlotte, North Carolina made the list. Check out the top five cities to celbrate Labor Day weekend below.

  • New York City, New York

    The Labor Day Weekend in New York City is a triumphant one, with a number of events that put a new spin on this national holiday. Despite being the city that never sleeps, NYC is definitely quieter on Labor Day weekend – making it the perfect time to rent a bike and cycle through Central Park or over the Brooklyn Bridge. A cycle can even be combined with a visit to one of NYC’s beaches or public pools (many are open over the weekend, but closed on Labor Day). Treat yourself to a stay at the Chambers Hotel, right off Central Park.

  • Atlanta, Georgia

    ‘The Big Peach’, or Atlanta, is an excellent destination choice for Labor Day Weekend because of the sheer variety of related events. For sports fans, the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game is a Labor Day tradition where top college football clubs battle it out with some of the country’s premier teams. Meanwhile, if you’re a sci-fi fan then Dragon Con is a must. It’s the largest multimedia pop culture convention in the world, where you can watch the stormtrooper-filled Dragon Con Parade, play absolutely any board game or video game you can imagine, or simply visit as an excuse to dress up as your favourite fictional character.

  • Chicago, Illinois

    Labor Day Weekend in Chicago puts music at the center of its celebrations, which has long attracted music lovers. A free festival dedicated to jazz legends and contemporary greats, the Chicago Jazz Festival occurs from September 1st to September 4th. On Labor Day, head to Millennium Park to take part in Chicago’s oldest lakefront celebration. There’s also the North Coast Music Festival on Chicago’s Northerly Island, which features electronic music acts.

  • Los Angeles, California

    There are many Labor Day events in Los Angeles that take advantage of the city’s perennially sunny weather and cinematic culture. There will be a number of outdoor film screenings (many hosted by Rooftop Cinema Club) of classics like Top Gun and My Neighbour Totoro. The Cinecon Classic Film Festival offers a nostalgic journey through Hollywood’s classic black-and-white films. Taking place at the historic and opulent Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre from Thursday 1st to Monday 5th September 2022.

  • Portland, Oregon

    Known for its beer, coffee, culinary scene, and outdoorsy local lifestyle, Portland is also a great place to celebrate Labor Day. The Bluebird ThaiPDX food cart in Multnomah French Quarter sells lip-smacking Thai doughnuts (Pa Thong Ko) and savoury treats such as sweet potato falafel. For more sweets, check out Voodoo Doughnuts and Blue Star Donuts in the city. As part of Labor Day celebrations, there will also be an adorable farmers’ market. You can refresh with a cup of fine Portland coffee, beer from a local craft brewery, or perhaps a wine tasting as part of the Labor Day festivities.
