Get Your Food Delivered By Train At This North Carolina Restaurant
If you’re a native Charlottean you may remember the Cotswold staple restaurant “Hotel Charlotte”. I have a lot of core memories of the restaurant. But one that stood out to me as a small child was the model trains that ran overhead throughout your meal. I always thought that was so cool and it was fun to watch them as you waited for your food. But this restaurant in Raleigh takes it to another level. Instead of just watching a train, your food is delivered by a model train at the North Carolina restaurant. It’s a Mexican restaurant called Dos Taquitos and it has been around since 1991. The train at Dos Taquitos runs around the restaurant and is used to deliver appetizers (think Queso and Guac) and desserts to tables throughout the restaurant.
I’ll be in Raleigh this weekend so I may just have to check this out. I actually lived there for 4 years and I am shocked this is my first time hearing about this place. In the world of social media, this is just the kind of gimmick that restaurants strive for. And it’s Mexican food that’s being delivered by train? Count me in!
North Carolina's Favorite Mexican Fast Food Is What?
It may not be Taco Tuesday but it’s always a good time for tacos. They are one of the most popular foods in the country and for good reason. In fact, our overall consumption of the Mexican food going up by 12.8% since the start of the pandemic. I know for me it was sone of the first restaurants I wanted to go back to in person, because queso just isn’t the same to go! (Neither is that extra large margarita). This prompted data analysts at the market research firm TOP Data to seek out the most popular Mexican fast food in America.
To do this, they analyzed a combination of GPS tracking data from all the major taco restaurant chains. Also considered were the results of a survey of 1,000 Americans. They concluded that Taco Bell has seen the most growth this year with a 4.5% increase in visits since the start of the 2022. But the most popular? That title goes to Chipotle Mexican Grill which won the top spot in 17 states.
Taco Bell was the runner-up, claiming the crown in 11 states. Others that won at least one state include Qdoba Mexican Eats, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Del Taco, Baja Fresh, and Taco John’s.
