North Carolina “Do Not Eat, Sell, or Serve” These Recalled Peaches, Plums, And Nectarines
Check your fridge North Carolina. The FDA has recalled peaches, plums, and nectarines that we sold in stores between May 1, 2022, through November 15, 2022, and from May 1, 2023, through November 15, 2023. Now I’m going to go out on a limb here and say if you have any fruit (or food for that matter) from 2022 regardless of the recall don’t eat that. But if you’ve purchased fruit in the last few weeks or months definitely give it a look over before you consume anything. The recalled fruit was sold bagged and individually (with PLU stickers) under several brands.
According to the FDA, individual pieces of fruit with PLU stickers on the fruit labeled USA-E-U, containing the following numbers:

- Yellow peach: 4044 or 4038
- White peach: 4401
- Yellow nectarine: 4036 or 4378
- White nectarine: 3035
- Red plum: 4042
- Black plum: 4040
It also applies to peaches, plums, or nectarines sold in HMC Farms-branded bags and peaches or nectarines sold in Signature Farms-branded bags and labeled with 6359 printed on a white sticker on the bag. You can see images of the labels here. In North Carolina the recalled fruit was sold at the following stores:
- Publix
- Wal-Mart & Sam’s Club
- ALDI
- Sprouts Farmers Market
The fruit is at risk for Listeria. Symptoms of listeria infection usually start within 2 weeks after eating contaminated food. Symptoms can include a fever, muscle aches, nausea, tiredness, vomiting, and diarrhea. In a more serious form symptoms may include headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions.If you find any of the fruit dispose of it immediately and sanitize any surfaces it may have come in contact with. If you experience any symptoms the FDA says to contact your health care provider.
