August Through October, South Charlotte Wine Walk Supports Local Charities
If you love wine, walking, and giving back to those in need, these events are for you. Blakeney Shopping Center has announced a Wine Walk series benefitting nonprofits on August 5, September 2, and October 7 from 6 – 8 PM. The Wine Walk Series will feature live music, wine education partnering with the Winestore, wine bottle tote bag for guests, special offers from Blakeney retailers, a fun photo station, wine sampling at participating retailers, and a charity raffle.
Each event supports a different charity. This South Charlotte wine walk supports a local backpack program, cancer patients, and child advocacy. On Thursday, August 5th ( 6-8 PM ) the Wine Walk will be supporting the Second Harvest Food Bank’s Backpack Program. The Backpack Program provides a backpack full of nutritious, ready to eat or easy to prepare foods that are sent home on weekends and holidays when school meals are not available. The Second Harvest Backpack Program provides over 200,000 backpacks annually at over 200 distribution sites in 17 counties that the Food Bank serves.
On Thursday, September 2nd ( 6-8 PM ) the Wine Walk will support the Isabella Santos Foundation. ISF is dedicated to improving rare pediatric cancer treatment options in an effort to increase the survival rates of kids with cancer. Funds from this program will be granted to Levine Children’s to help build the Isabella Santos Foundation Rare & Solid Tumor Program supporting rare pediatric cancer research.
And finally, on Thursday, October 7th ( 6-8 PM ) the Wine Walk will support Pat’s Place. Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center coordinates the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of the most severe cases of child abuse in Mecklenburg County. As the only child advocacy center in Charlotte, Pat’s Place serves children from birth through age 18. All services are provided in a nurturing, friendly, and safe environment at no cost to a child’s family.
Attendees can purchase tickets for $25 as a donation to the featured monthly charity. The ticket price includes a tasting cup, wine tote, wristband, passport, and access to samples of wine in the participating retail shops. The Wine Walk Series will take place at Blakeney Shopping Center on Adrey Kell and Rea Road in Charlotte.
