Carolina Panthers Player Teams with United Way to Support Charlotte Youth
Panthers defensive back Jaycee Horn joined forces with United Way of Greater Charlotte, bringing joy to kids at Billingsville Elementary School on Dec. 10, 2024. His visit kicked off a new community program in Grier Heights. At the community center, Horn handed out gifts to children in the YWCA program. In between signing autographs and giving high-fives, he talked with Care Ring and CrossRoads Corporations about local housing needs and neighborhood development. This team-up marks a new chapter for Grier Heights support networks. Local organizations keep working to improve housing options and create more opportunities for young people in the area. While CrossRoads builds affordable housing, Care Ring handles healthcare needs. Both groups put their head together with Horn to come up with real solutions for helping the community. "It means so much that he's here today, to help us tell that story, and you can clearly see the type of impact it's having on the kids to be able to see the role model come through," said Kathryn Firmin-Sellers, CEO of United Way of Greater Charlotte. After recovering from injuries, Horn wanted to give back to young people in Charlotte. His time off the field inspired him to make a difference in the community. United Way boosts its youth programs by getting athletes involved in neighborhood projects. They stay focused on bringing better education and health services to Charlotte areas that need the most help. "Health for the Holidays" gets underway this weekend. The program hopes to get residents more interested in healthy living.
