The popularity of medical dramas in the U.S. has never stagnated. For decades, these shows have captured our hearts, and now we know what shows get the hearts of each state beating.

According to Grand Canyon University, each state in the United States has a favorite medical drama series. North Carolina residents love a true classic medical drama. The University analyzed Google Trends search volume for 80 shows in the medical drama category between January 1, 2012, and January 1, 2022, using Wikipedia’s list of medical drama television shows. This is how North Carolina and other nearby states ranked for their favorite show.

Historically popular shows like Chicago Fire and ER were shut out, with zero states selecting those shows as their most popular medical drama. General Hospital led the way, earning the title of most popular medical drama in four different states.
