Hornets Fall To Pacers 115-104
The Hornet’s quest for a third win in a row fell short tonight after losing to the Pacers 115-104.
Points In The Paint
The Hornets looked a bit like the team that started the season and not the one that’s been overachieving as of late. It all started in the paint tonight as Charlotte allowed a whopping 66 points in the paint. The Hornets finished with just 46 points in the paint and wasn’t able to make up for it with three-point shooting, finishing with just 10 made three-pointers.
Ball Movement
The Hornets struggled to move the ball efficiently tonight and finished with just 21 team assists compared to Indiana’s 31. Ball movement has been a strength of Charlotte’s this season but tonight they couldn’t get it done. The Pacers finished with 8 steals and 5 blocks on the night and forced Charlotte into 12 turnovers.
Poor Shooting
Charlotte ended up shooting just 47% from the floor and 33% from three. 33% isn’t terrible but when you’ve got to make up for 66 points allowed in the paint, you’ll need to convert at a higher clip. Charlotte’s bench added just 28 points tonight, unusual for a bench that fills up the stat sheet most nights.
Rozier And Graham
These two continue to get a little better game in and game out. Rozier finished with 28 points and 6 assists while Graham finished with 22 points 6 assists and 5 rebounds. While they weren’t necessarily terrible from beyond the arc (combined 6 for 17) they made up for it by knocking down FT’s when they got to the line (finishing 14 for 15 from the FT line). Mile Bridges also had a strong night, scoring 18 points on 6-7 shooting while racking up 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
Every. Time.
TJ Warren continues to torture the Hornets. He seems to have a career game every time he plays Charlotte and tonight was no different while he finished with 36 points on 15 of 24 shooting.
