Another Will Smith Gets Booed At Baseball Game
It’s not easy being Will Smith these days. The actor is feeling the repercussions of his actions against Chris Rock at the Oscars. As a result, Will Smith has resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. On top of that, Variety reports that Netflix is putting the production of Smith’s upcoming action movie, Fast and Loose, on hold for now.
It’s not even easy being named Will Smith right now. According to Yahoo! Sports, Will Smith isn’t the only Will Smith catching heat, pun intended, for the so-called “slap heard ’round the world.” During a Spring Training game last week (3/31) between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Texas Rangers, the Dodgers’ star catcher, also named Will Smith, was booed by Rangers fans as he came up to bat.
Sure, the Rangers faithful could have been booing Smith simply because he plays for the other team, but the timing suggests otherwise. After all, no one ever really gets that worked up during Spring Training games. In any case, this Will Smith got the last laugh when he “slapped” a triple into center field. You can see it below.
By the way, the Dodgers’ Will Smith isn’t the only Major League Baseball player with that name. The Atlanta Braves have a pitcher named Will Smith, too. It could be a long season for both of those guys.
