Whale, Snake, or Loch Ness Monster? Strange Animal Filmed Off North Carolina Coast
The sea can be mysterious. It’s full of the unknown and we see that from time to time. We caught a glimpse of one of the perplexing sea animals this week. On January 3rd the Atlantic Beach shop Chasin Tails Outdoors Bait & Tackle shared a video to Facebook. In the video you see a creature that could be a whale, alligator, fish, snake, eel, or even as some suggested reminiscent of the famed Loch Ness Monster. The video quickly amassed hundreds of thousands of views and became hotly debated as to the identity of the creature. The strange animal was filmed in the waters off of the southeastern North Carolina Coast.
“Something you don’t see every day…. WHALES or the LOCK NESS MONSTER in the Port this morning, never seen one inside the inlet like this! Video was takin by Capt. Griffiee one of shop Charter Captains heading out!” the caption said. The video is 43-seconds long and shows the strange animal creature break the surface of the water before venturing away in a slithering motion. The head resembles that of an alligator but it appears to move with much more agility than the reptiles.
In the many comments posted on the video comments viewers hypothesized it could be the aforementioned alligator, a manatee or dolphin, whale calf, among other creatures. The most common guess seems to be that of a right whale calf that got separated from its mother. The whales are typically migrating this time of year and wouldn’t normally be in the sound where this was filmed. Take a look at the video below of the strange animal off the North Carolina coast and let us know what you think it is!
