1,500 Pound Great White Shark Spotted Off the Coast of North Carolina
Well, one North Carolina coast seems to have found a new friend. A great white shark! Yes, it’s in its own habitat but it’s good to know when they are near us if you’re ever out in the area. A-Z Animals reports that a 1,500-pound great white shark is off the coast of the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
The area in the Outer Banks is a favorite hangout spot for great white sharks, apparently. Just off of Cape Point this 1,500 shark was spotted on February 28th. This same shark off the coast of the Outer Banks began its tracking in 2020 in Nova Scotia. Researchers call the shark, “Breton.” The shark has been in North Carolina for over a month now. Researches confirm that the waters in North and South Carolina are where Breton is showing up the most. The report states that beach visitors should not worry too much about this shark being off the coast of the area. Being “aware” of the shark and its location is great knowledge but there is no immediate threat as of right now. It is rare to see shark attacks in North Carolina, but always better to be safe than sorry.
