More people than ever are moving to this North Carolina area and here's why.  The Charlotte area is still booming. According to recent reports by the United States Census Bureau, Charlotte is outpacing Raleigh but is lagging behind the influx of new citizens in some parts of the South.

In a recent survey by the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance and reported by Channel 9, 113 people moved to the Charlotte area every single day. The data was taken between July 2021 and July 2022. The number is up from 89 people daily in 2021 and 91 people daily before the pandemic in 2019. The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance says the influx of people coming into the Charlotte area marked the highest it has been since 2008. To learn more about this study get all the details from Channel 9 right here.

So my question is why are so many people moving to the Charlotte area every single day? Well, it is awesome living in the area apparently.  According to Rent Bottom Line people are moving from all over the place. New neighbors are coming from Florida and Detroit, New York and Massachusetts. More people than ever are moving to this North Carolina and here's why.

What is the attraction?  People are drawn to the area for the relatively lower cost of housing than in other parts of the country.  They like the weather here, the culture and the job opportunities.  To learn more get all the details from Rent Bottom Line right here.

26 Indoor Activities To Have Fun While Staying Cool This Summer In Charlotte North Carolina

There is no way around it, it is HOT in the Carolinas this summer. It was in the mid-90s all last week and will be there the rest of this week as well. There are only so many things you can do inside to entertain yourself or your kids and let's face it it's just too miserable to be outside. At this temperature, I can't even lay out at the pool, it's get in the water of bust. And forget that afternoon rail trail walk or outdoor dining. So if you're like me and don't want to sit at home, but instead want to beat the heat this is the list for you. I've scoured the internet for 26 indoor activities for you to have fun while staying cool this summer in Charlotte.

All of these activities have one main thing in common. And that one thing is air conditioning. Because when it's 95 degrees outside nothing else will cut it! Indoors is also helpful when that oh-so-common summer storm pops up. So no getting wet (unless by choice) here.

On this list you'll find a variety of activities some for kids and adults alike, others geared more towards just adults. Tap into your creative side, your adventurous side, or just relax and enjoy. Many offer the chance to have a cold drink but aren't drinking-focused. Instead, you'll find indoor activities in Charlotte that are sure to entertain and break up the monotony that the summer heat can often bring. Hopefully, this list will be helpful and you'll find something new to try or remember an old favorite you'd forgotten about. Try one of these activities. Let us know! Stay cool out there this summer, Charlotte (it will be winter and we will be begging for warmer days before we know it).

Take A Swing At Indoor Putt Putt

You don't have to be a kid (or go to the beach) to enjoy some mini golf. Charlotte is home to two indoor mini golf courses Stroke in Plaza Midwood and The Puttery in Southend. Both do get crowded on the weekends, but offer some indoor fun! And in true Charlotte fashion both have bars so the fun doesn't have to end when the golf does.

Feel Like A Kid At Frankie's Fun Park

Laser tag, amusement rides, games upon games, putt-putt, multiple go-kart tracks, bumper cars, and bowling are just some of the endless ways to have fun at Frankie's Fun Park Charlotte. Technically located in Huntersville, it's only about 15 minutes from uptown so an easy drive! While some of these activities are outside, many are indoors and a great way to beat the heat this summer.

Try Your Hand At An Escape Room

Escape Rooms boomed in popularity a few years ago and Charlotte has a nice variety of them. You'll need a decent group to get the full escape room experience so make sure to grab your friends!  There are breakout games at Carolina Place, Exit Strategy, The Box Escape Room, Timed Out Escape, and District 57 among others.

Visit A Social House

Both Piedmont Social House located in Arsley, and Queen Park Social in LoSo offer a fun atmosphere to spend the day indoors. Take advantage of bowling, games like basketball, skeeball, shuffleboard, and more! Plus take a moment and relax with a drink and some food!

Take A Cooking Class

No matter what your skill level is, cooking classes can be a fun activity for kids and adults! You can go to places like Sur La Table or check out a local option like Chef Alyssa's Kitchen or Sweet Spot Studio.

Live Like A Tourist And Visit A Charlotte Museum

Get out and explore one of Charlotte's museums whether it is an art museum like one of the two Mint Museum locations (Uptown and Randolph) or the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art also in uptown. If history is more your speed try the Charlotte Museum of History or Levine Museum of the New South.

Give Pickleball A Try At Rally Pickleball

Are you obsessed with pickleball or want to give this trending sport a try? You can do that indoors at Charlotte's Rally Pickleball. Not only is it a great place to play, but it's a fun spot to hang out when you're done as well. I'll meet you at the bar!

Cool Off On Ice, By Ice Skating

If cool temperatures are what you're seeking, ice skating may be the best way to find it. Both Pineville Ice House (Pineville) and Xtreme Ice Center (Indian Trail) offer open-to-the-public ice skating and classes you can take.

Do Some Shopping At The Mall

With the ease of online shopping, you may have not paid the mall a visit lately. Take a stroll and get some shopping done or even window shop at SouthPark, Carolina Place, Concord Mills, or another local mall. My personal favorite? SouthPark hands down just can't wait for Zara to open!

Take A Lap At Victory Lane Indoor Go Karts

This isn't your average go-kart adventure. The carts at Victory Lane are designed for competition. Offering a "uniquely fun and affordable adventure in motorsports". You'll also find bowling, axe throwing, and a virtual reality game to enjoy as well.

Laser Tag

Laser tag was the ultimate birthday party, you always knew you were going to have a blast. And it's still probably more fun than it should be as an adult. In Charlotte you can find laser tag several places including Mission Laser, LaserQuest, District 57, and Frankie's Fun Park which was previously mentioned.

Paint A Masterpiece At Wine + Design

You don't have to be an artist to be an artist at Wine + Design. The Charlotte location is located on East Blvd and they have a variety of pre-drawn, and step-by-step explained painting classes you take. And you'll leave with some new wall art. The wine is BYOB and optional, but does add to the fun!

Go Climbing At Inner Peaks

You don't have to be an expert to have fun (and get a great workout) climbing at Inner Peaks. There are two locations one in Matthews and the other in SouthEnd. There are automatic repels that you can hook yourself up to, you just have to watch a quick safety video if you haven't been before. Or try bouldering!

Try Your Hand At Duckpin Bowling

Duckpin bowling is easier and dare I say more fun than traditional bowling? Check out Pins Mechanical, Pinhouse, or Pins Charlotte and try your hand.

Go To The Movies

Watching a movie is just better in a theater. No distractions, the biggest screen, and that movie theater popcorn is just superior to anything my microwave can pop. Barbie and Oppenheimer have gotten a ton of buzz lately, and I'm excited to see Disney's The Haunted Mansion as well!

Release Stress or Anxiety By Axe Throwing

Release anger and stress or just try your hand at something you haven't before- axe throwing. You can do this in Charlotte at Bad Axe Throwing or BATL Axe Throwing.

Step Into A State of Confusion At The Museum of Illusions

Blow your own mind and that of your social media followers when you visit Charlotte's Museum of Illusions. A visit is a full blown visual, sensory, and educational experience. The museum features rotating exhibits so there is always something new to explore.

Learn To Curl

No, not your hair (though that could be a fun indoor activity as well) but the Olympic sport. The one that has you saying who even does that and how do you get started? You can learn to curl at Charlotte Curling who calls themselves the coolest place in Charlotte. With temperatures in the 90s I'll take a chance and see if that's true!

Make Your Own Candle

Pour your own candle at Paddywax Candle Bar in Southend. You can choose the vessel as well as the scent and have a fun take-home that you will enjoy burning. Plus you can say you made it whenever anyone compliments how fantastic your home smells.

Enjoy the Waterslides At Great Wolf Lodge

You don't have to stay over to enjoy the indoor waterpark and countless other activities at Great Wolf Lodge. You can purchase a day pass to enjoy the 11 waterslides and 4 pools which are all indoors so no miserable heat, or risk of sunburn. And forget leaving early due to a pesky afternoon thunderstorm. I've heard from reliable sources that the slides are thrilling even for adults, and they have a bar. So no need for an age limit on the fun.

Play At Dave + Busters

With two locations in the Charlotte area, Pineville and Concord, you can play, as well as eat and enjoy the sports bar at Dave + Busters. Kids and adults love the games and the air conditioning!

Jump Around The Trampoline Park

Big Air, SkyZone, and DEFY are some of the trampoline park options in Charlotte. But none of them are strickly jumping. Slides, foam pits, ziplines, and more offer fun for all ages. I even did a workout class for a while at one and it's a lot harder than it sounds! You'll be in the AC but you may still work up a sweat.

Dish It Out With Pottery Painting

Create something uniquely you at Dish It Out. Choose whatever you'd like to paint and then get to work designing your masterpiece. You'll leave it be fired and when you pick it up you'll have a finished usable piece of pottery.

Eat Your Way Around A Food Hall

Make sure you do this one hungry! Eat a variety of food from restaurants such as Noble Smoke, The Dumpling Lady, and Boxcar Betty's. Wash the food down with a drink and browse some shops as well.
