More Questions Than Answers About What’s Next For This Permanently Closed South Carolina Restaurant
Our son attends Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. And, in our many trips to the area, we used to pass a restaurant we planned to visit but never had the chance after its abrupt closure. But what’s happening now to the Eugenia’s restaurant Conway space? There’s more questions than answers for now. But, let’s see.
Eugenia’s Restaurant Conway
According to The Sun News, the former Eugenia’s restaurant Conway at 1650 Church St. is undergoing renovations. And, although many are hungry to learn what the future holds for the space, there are more questions than answers at this point.
However, reports from those visiting the space during the renovation indicate the inside is being separated into smaller areas as opposed to the larger space that housed the former Eugenia’s restaurant Conway. This might point to utilization of the spot for several businesses rather than just one.
There is no date of completion on the renovations at this point. And, of course, no indication as to when those smaller spaces might be ready for leasing. Keith Benton Sr. of Benton Rentals LLC owns the property.
The Closure Of Eugenia’s Restaurant Conway
The former restaurant was open less than 2 years. The closure was abrupt with employees receiving messages on New Year’s Eve of 2022 concerning the end of the restaurant. According to My Horry News, there was no reason given. And, signs in all capital letters on the space stated, “We are closed thanks for your patronage.”
The closure affected about 40 employees who were blindsided by the news at the end of the holiday season. And now, locals reminisce about what was and speculate about what might be coming to the space. According to Here Myrtle Beach, locals are hoping for everything from a great seafood restaurant to a bakery to trendy cafe or chic boutique.
The former Eugenia’s restaurant Conway served steak and seafood. And, I even heard there was a John Deere tractor in the dining space. I’m sad we never had a chance to dine there. But, we look forward to what’s happening in the space and what the future holds.
