Beer For Your Dogs? Your Pup Can Try It At This North Carolina Brewery
HUNTINGTON VILLAGE, NEW YORK - MAY 03: Mark and Karen Heuwetter fit their two dogs Buddy and Barley with an empty four pack of beer cans before a delivery to their customers on May 03, 2020 in Huntington Village, New York. Mark and Karen Heuwetter own the Six Harbors Brewery and have trained their two Golden Retrievers Buddy and Barley to help them deliver beer to their customers during the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. The dogs are fitted with a four pack of empty beer cans around their necks and meet customers at their doorstep while Mark and Karen carry the beer to deliver behind them. It has been comforting for the dogs who are enjoying the exercise and meeting people along the way. The customers love seeing Buddy and Barley and enjoy petting and greeting them to go with their beer delivery.
While I (and vets) don’t recommend it, we did serve my friend’s dog a little bit of beer in college. But the alcohol obviously is not suitable for dogs, however, it was just a sip or two so no animals were harmed. But if you love taking your dog to breweries with you and want them to enjoy a treat, you’ll want to keep reading. A new spot is opening in Raleigh called Tap Yard Raleigh and in addition to a wide variety of cocktails and beer the menu also includes a tasty beer for dogs.
It’s called Mason’s Good Dog Beer. But “beer” is a bit of a stretch. The nonalcoholic pet-friendly (and tested) treat is made of peanut butter, apple sauce, and low-sodium chicken broth. And while that doesn’t sound particularly appetizing to me your furry friend will most likely love it! In fact, according to their website, the beer is ” a concoction so good they won’t know it’s alcohol-free”.
So next time you are in the Triangle area give this place a try. I visit often and can’t wait to add this to my bucket list. And of course, take my friends’ dogs with me. Get more info on Tap Yard Raleigh and this unique beer for dogs here.
